Summer games for kids aren’t just a good way of keeping them occupied, they’re also good for keeping them healthy and active. Whether you’re looking for games to play as a family, or games that the kids can play with their friends, here are some ideas for you.

Backyard Sports Tournaments

Hosting backyard sports tournaments can make for some of the best summer games for kids! These are good for the kids and the adults to play together, as long as you divide up the teams so that they’re roughly equal in ability.

You could play soccer, golf, volleyball, even olympic sports. Spend some time together planning it as a family and coming up with prizes for the winning teams and individuals. You could even turn this into a yearly event, where you battle for the title in the annual games!

5 Ideas For Swimming Pool Games For Kids

Whether you’re hosting a pool party this summer, or just want to come up with some ways to keep your kids occupied outdoors, swimming pool games for kids are great fun! Here are 5 ideas for games to play.

1) Using The Diving Board

If you have a diving board then you can play a pool version of “long jump”. The kids will take it in turns to jump off the diving board, and you’ll keep track of how far each child manages to jump. The child who jumps the farthest wins! You can make the game last longer by doing it in rounds, using a floating marker that the kids have to jump across with each time, increasing the length and knocking people out of the competition at each stage.

2) Water Tag

You can play the classic game of tag in the pool by getting swimmers to chase one another and tag someone, either with their hands or an inflatable ball. Whoever gets tagged is then “it” and has to chase everyone else.

Another idea based on water tag is that you start off with one person tagging the swimmers. Each swimmer they tag joins their team and they all get to tag new swimmers. The last person to remain untagged gets to start the next round as the first tagger. These swimming pool games for kids are great ways to keep them active!
