First bred in 1890, Doberman Pinschers have become one of the most popular dog breeds worldwide. Renowned for their intelligence and loyalty, they make good pets as well as excellent guard dogs used by both police and military units. And despite a reputation for being highly aggressive (generally towards strangers, rather than their owners), modern breeding has made Doberman puppies for sale today into lively dogs well suited for life with families.
Physical Traits
Puppies are generally available in either fawn, black, red or bluish color. According to American Kennel Club standards,Dobermans should have square, compact builds with females standing about 25.5” high and weighing 60-90 lbs., with males a bit taller at 27.5” and 75-100 lbs. “Coats should be smooth. Teeth strongly developed and white. Eyes almond shaped.”
Although born with triangular ears and long tails, most Doberman’s have their ears docked (between 7-9 months old) and tails cropped (at about 3 months old). However, many countries now ban tail cropping for any breed.
