Oh, those dreaded holidays. They will soon be here and what are you going to do about those people on your gift list? I’m sure that you have at least one fussy relative who you always have a hard time getting something for. Socks or ties are just not going to cut the mustard anymore. The whole idea for the Leatherman emerged back in the 1970′s. Around that time a young mechanical engineering student was traveling through Europe and the Middle East. He had to fix his own car to save money and it proved to be quite the challenge. He found himself dreaming of a tool…basically a pocketknife with a pair of pliers. When he got back to the States he decided to make one himself.

He soon formulated the Leatherman Company with his business partner and proceeded to sell his first Leatherman Mini Tool. This company has grown a lot since those days. It now sells not only tons of multi-tools, but LED flashlights and knives as well.

2012: A Year to Watch Out For?

The coming year, 2012, is a year to watch for many reasons. It is of course, just like any of the other years that have come and gone, as it brings new expectations, renewed hope and all that. It can easily be singled out however, because of the very significant that is supposed to be happening before that year ends. Well it is actually about endings alright, with the end of the world said to be happening on December 21, 2012. Not everyone believes in such doomsday prophecies, of course, although it might sound interesting and even exciting to some. So you can be sure that it would continue to hold people’s attention, especially as the date gets nearer.

Perhaps part of the charm of the supposed event that is going to happen next year is due to its source. Plenty of credence is given by some on the fact that the prediction is based on the Mayan long count calendar, which in the eyes of some is enough o make it quite credible. Nothing is wrong with giving it that kind of belief or even distinction, the only problem that some has with it is that every other prediction before it has failed. That fact does not deter the believers of course, and they continue to think and believe that December 21, 2012 is the day tat they have been waiting for.

  • Fuel crisis. What would happen if the cost of gas doubled? That would escalate the price of air fares and also the cost of getting food to us.

  2. What will be your lasting impact in your current position should you leave? This gives the candidate to highlight an important accomplishment in their current position. Will they really be missed from their current company? It will help determine if the candidate is a do-er and will deliver for you.
  3. When was the last time you were late on a major deadline? What happened? I have yet to meet someone who is batting 100% for project deadlines; they are plain being dishonest if they say “never”. This question will give you better insight into how the candidate learns from mistakes and how self aware he or she is.
  4. What is the most significant mistake you have made on the job? What did you learn? Hopefully the answer is not too recent and is a risk they took with a potential high reward. Regardless, you can get insight into their judgment and learning.
