The most common thing that happens when people suffer from an iron deficiency is that they have no idea what the problem is. Shellfish – there are some very interesting things you can do with this shellfish such as oysters, mussels, and clams. These are not the types of things you want to eat on a daily basis, but nobody could really afford to do that anyways. Consider them a nice occasional treat that will add an interesting twist to soups, sauces, or stews. Don’t forget about how great they taste with barbecue either.
Sun-dried tomatoes – this is another healthy treat that you had a tremendous amount of flavor to your food. Go ahead and experiment with some of your favorite dishes and you might be surprised at how they are enhanced with the simple addition of sun-dried tomatoes. For example, a nice grilled salmon topped with garlic and sun-dried tomatoes is an extremely healthy dish that can boost levels of omega-3 acids in addition to giving you more iron as well.
Dried fruits – things like dried apricots, prunes, and dates are a great thing to sack on and they happen to contain iron as well. If you snack smart, you can actually boost your health quite a bit while curbing your appetite and preventing overheating during meals. Stacking on foods high in iron can give you a nice boost so that you don’t always have to concentrate on how you can adapt your main meals.
