One of the simplest and most affordable ways to enhance the atmosphere of your home, party, or event is to place candles on tables as decorations. The subtle flicker of candle light can transform any room from a sterile environment to relaxed and comfortable one almost instantly. The type of candle that comes to mind when most people think of romance are taper candles. Known for their long and sloped shape, taper candles have become an icon in western decor.
However, there is one problem with taper candles that makes them less appealing than their wide and cylindrical counterparts- drips. After you spend days or weeks planning an event with beautiful centerpieces, the last thing you want is to have their appearance destroyed by hot drips of wax collecting on their sides and bases. Eliminating The Drips
The way dripless candles are made is generally kept trade secret by candle makers, but we are aware of two techniques that are used to eliminate the drips.
- The first step of candle making involves picking the perfect wick. If the wick is too thick or not treated properly, it can be extremely inefficient for certain types of waxes.
- The second step is the most important. In involves creating a cavity for the melted wax to sit in until it can burn off without dripping. This is achieved by dipping the outer layers of the candle in wax with a much higher melting point. This causes the core of the candle to burn faster than the shell eliminating the drips.
The benefits of such a design are obvious- your candles look much better and are much safer. However there are a few unintended benefits such as longevity and smoke free burning that make dripless candles an extreme value.
